During their Financial Update today, Take-Two has apparently confirmed a new GTA title for the PSP in fiscal-2006.
Quote:
"For Fiscal 2006, we are well positioned for the opportunities to extend our brands across the large installed base of current generation platforms, as well as next generation hardware including the two previously announced Rockstar Games titles for the PSP, one of which is a new Grand Theft Auto title."
-- Paul Eibeler, President & CEO, Take Two Interactive
I thought at first that they were just referring to LCS and the first Rockstar title was Midnight Club. Reading through the whole paragraph doesn't support that, however.
The release also stated that all of Europe will have GTA: LCS by late-November.
Convenient release date.
porting to PS2
VCS will be ported to PS2, and it's set for a US launch on March 6th, says Gamespot.
Gamespy: 4/5
Gamespy echoes the problematic camera and shooting complaints by Gamespot but still gives it a great score of 4 out of 5.
Gamespot: 8.4
Gamespot gives Vice City Stories an 8.4. It doesn't break new ground for the series, still has control issues, has excellent music, more memorable characters and better missions than Liberty City Stories, but they did manage to make flying the helicopters around easy.
The adhoc multiplayer is better than the original, but no online play is available.
official site, trailer, analysis.
The official site and trailer for VCS are out, along with a Gamespot analysis of the trailer to compare with rumored game features.
LGC 2006 screens

Details.
Vice City Stories will apparently have a smattering of features that Vice City added to the GTA world. It will be set two years prior to Vice City. This information has been gleaned from a link at PSPWorld.com.
That includes flyable helicopters.
The player will play Victor Vance, brother of someone apparently gunned down very early on in the future Vice City.
Vice City Stories, out October 17, 2006
Vice City Stories will be out on October 17th of this year. Rockstar has revealed the box art. PSPWorld has the picture.
Oct 17, 2006
Vice City Stories has been formally announced with a 2006-10-17 release date.
Ahhh. A GTA game without a $600 cover charge.
I want swimming, flying, and online multiplayer, dammit.
Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!
Rockstar has filed patents for Vice City Stories.
PSP: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Take Two statest that the still untitled PSP GTA will be an "all-new property" but did not mention whether the title would be set in a previously explored city.
