Given my problems ensuring the site is visible to the outside world, I've signed up for SiteUptime.com's free account for the time being, and if it works well, I'll probably subscribe to have it monitor my other domains.

I'd forgotten about SiteUptime since you can't monitor nonstandard ports with its free account, and I only recently got standard http web serving capabilities on my server.
