PS3Fanboy carries word here that PlayStation Home will expand its closed beta in July and then open up the beta for everyone in November. This comes from the creative director for Home named Ron Fejesto. All I have to say is: Really?
I'm guessing last week's revelations that Home was getting pushed back yet again combined with Kaz Hirai's statements that we aren't to expect it until the end of 2008 triggered another wave of disappiontment with Sony. I know I wrote about it elsewhere and while I sometimes just tsk-tsk the entertainment behemoth for having what often seems like a headless marketing strategy, others aren't so kind. Are these just words to soothe the savage blogosphere? I hope not.
I'm all in favor of getting more people into the beta and frankly it's come a long way since when I first got into the beta. These days, however, I have almost no reason to go in there because I don't think anybody else on my friends list is in it. I'm more than happy to fiddle around and kick the tires with friends, so when things open up in July a bit I think it'll be a good thing.
Maybe we should set up a Home meetup time for TripleTags gamers who are in the Home beta so we can get together and test things out and talk about what we think of it in Home. This way we can give Sony a hand with putting things to the test and have a little fun at the same time. What do you think?
