The PlayStation Blog clued us in that the Bionic Commando: Rearmed release will be headed our way next week on the 14th and that it will eventually get Trophies patched in. It also answered a longtime question from end users as to whether the game is online or offline. It's "Offline, but it's great!" The above video is a the third behind-the-scenes video and includes some nice details about the game.
I distinctly remember wondering if it was offline or online in earlier announcements of the game and the silence had me assuming it was offline only. The lack of clarity in the earlier press releases meant one of two things. Either they didn't know yet or they didn't want to say, leading us on. While I'm always happy to see a Capcom game go online -- I have a longstanding beef with how Capcom keeps their blockbuster Monster Hunter PSP titles offline-only -- I wonder if they don't plan to sell us online play later. It would probably be a first for the PSN to have something like that sold after the fact, so perhaps that's a little farfetched.
Getting Trophies patched in later also gives me the strong impression that you'll have to replay it to earn them. That raises a red flag to me, indicating I should wait to buy it later. While I'm focusing on clearing my backlog these days -- you can see that on my card -- this game looks really good and will be quite a temptation once it's out and bulked up later with Trophy support.
