FFXI Level Sync: More Fun For Everyone.

final_fantasy_xi_online_logoFinal Fantasy XI is still alive and kicking and getting regular content updates across all three platforms it runs on -- the PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360. The next update in development will add something very interesting that seems to be aimed squarely at the higher-level players of the game who may be getting bored.

A new Level Sync feature will allow higher-level players to "power down" and adventure with lower-level ones and earn rewards similar to how the lower-level players would earn them. It scales them down to the lower-level player so they can access lower-level areas with them and will also scale their equipment down. This way high-level players don't have to scrounge around for lower-level equipment to go adventuring with their lower-level pals.

This sounds like an inspired game feature and shows that the FFXI team is committed to retaining as many higher-level players as possible by letting them enjoy earlier areas they might have enjoyed again with other lower-level friends. This should also boost mentoring as well since there's incentives for letting higher-level players replay these areas.

For my own adventures in FFXI, check out this thread. For the details on the content update see the Newsletter Issue 26.

Sigh. You're an idiot.

Sigh. You're an idiot. Certain skills, specifically magic skills aren't affected in practicality by your current skill cap. Example, Healing Magic. A level 68 WHM will never Cure like a level 35. To be at level 68, you should know that by now. & a WHM's curative effectiveness is in their down time; how much MP they have, & how quickly they can heal it back up. Then there's the skill behind the player. Healing Magic Skill will not boost the strength of a Cure. Your MND does, or gear that increases Cure Potency. Healing Magic Skill will, if anything, perhaps lower your Spell Interruption Rate. Considering you generally need to take damage in order for your spell to be interrupted, what are the chances of that happening? That is to say, if your tanks are doing their jobs.

Enhancing & Healing Magic. These two, you don't even need to be in a party to level up. You can do so standing outside of your Mog House while seeking.

Going back to Level Sync, it's quite simple. Don't join a party beneath a certain Level Sync. Declare your minimum range in your /seacom. There will always be someone on a certain level seeking to gain the next level, so there will always be a party for yours at some point. Hell, why can't the Level Sync target be you? You could even get your thumb out of your ass & start your own. Or, there's always the choice of joining a Merit Party, specifically designed for Level 75 characters, or 73 characters even. Besieged is even a viable option.

3 characters w/ jobs over level 36? Why not focus on having one decent character first, before making more? You can level more than one job on a character by switching in your Mog House, you know.

Honestly. Perhaps Fenrir is better off w/o you.

Level Sync

Level Sync wil allow you to level up faster...I repeat "LEVEL UP" faster...however it will not allow your job skills to level up...so you may be a Level 70 Paladin but your skills can be 40 and when facing MATT you need your skills damn near maxed as per your job. What good is a Level 68 White Mage who Cures like a Level 35...its not any good at all. Lastly, after leveling up then you have to go back and invest more time in skilling up...which would have been done automatically as the way we previously did thing...form a party with a 2 level gap 3 at most and everyone benefits. It took longer to get parties but it was worth the wait. Thats why 1 month after Level Sync I quit FFXI. Damn shame too I had 3 characters with 4 or more level 36 jobs. I was hoping to see SE fix it but alas they seem slighty more interested in getting monthly payment than fixing a game that could be great.
Peace to Fenrir...I miss you all but I won't pay 15.00 dollars a month to not have fun and thats what the game is about...having fun with friends.

Blizenbear, Snowdenbear and Oldenbear wish you all Good Luck Hunting!
