Doh: No Video Sharing In Home

home_disappointment_guyI'm unhappy with news that Sony has decided not to put video sharing into Home, and by video sharing I mean having someone come to your apartment and then playing videos on a TV there streaming from your console hard drive. This is one of the only reasons I'd really ever want someone to come visit my apartment in the online service. It would be great to show off the latest videos from my vacation, or maybe something else I'd converted to play on the PS3, but there's the rub. Their concern about showing videos of copyrighted material are what prompted them to remove it.

I can only imagine that if video playback from the drive is gone, so will audio playback from the drive. That's copyrighted too in case you didn't know.

I'd been waiting for that feature to show up, so this announcement makes the service even less important to me. Still, it will be free, and I being in the beta has been a bit of a treat. We'll see if anything more interesting slips into it before release, whenever that is, but for now I could take it or leave it.
