Try Warhawk, Buy Eden, Get Encore

ps3_pjeden_pjmonstersencoreA few days ago I deigned to start the PlayStation 3 before the wife shuffled off to bed. She quickly demanded I avoid all 3D games -- she gets motion sick from them -- and I was left looking over Everyday Shooter and not much else. I decided now was a good time to finally pick up PixelJunk Eden and went into the Store to go get it.

I cursored over to Eden and clicked to add the game to my shopping cart, but the Store told me that I couldn't add that content to my cart right now and to try again later. Hwa? I wrote my brother James, theorizing that the long-awaited difficulty adjustment patch might be coming soon and he hoped so. He cautioned me against buying it until it was patched. He's more tolerant of and skilled at tough games than I am and he found many of the later levels and Trophies to be spitefully difficult.

Just last night, however, I got an email from Sony advertising that if I bought Eden I'd get the expansion for PixelJunk Monsters, called Encore, for free. Free is free, and while I bought the much-lauded PJM for half price back when it was on sale I haven't played any of it. I'm hopeful that they patch in Trophies for that puppy as well and while getting Encore for free might prompt them to work a bit harder at getting those Trophies in, there are no guarantees.

And while it does say this is an "exclusive offer" aimed at PlayStation Underground members that ends on October 16th, I don't know if it will work for just anyone. If it would work for you, would it entice you to get it?

Did you also notice that this week's Store update has a demo for Warhawk? It's long overdue, of course. I haven't tried it since I own the full game (but haven't yet ponied up for the Jet Packs), but whether you get the disc version of the game or the online version the add-ons are now in bundles that make them definitely cheaper to pick up. Have you tried the demo?
