Last night while playing Burnout Paradise I discovered that the 2.50 firmware had changed how to connect bluetooth headsets to the machine. It already listed my Plantronics headset since I'd paired it long ago, but I had to push triangle on where it was set as an input or output device, then select Connect. Once connected a blue led graphic appeared beside where it was listed on-screen. It's a nice touch, but it would've been nicer to see these things mentioned online.
Others have found other things in the latest updates. That includes a snappy new recovery menu that seems to operate outside of the main firmware update process. This might be a response to the 2.40 bricking issue to avoid having to send your machine in to Sony -- a very smart move. PS3Fanboy has the details on it here.
Home theater aficionados who no doubt already enjoy the system's Blu-ray playback and streaming media capabilities also got some goodies in the latest update. Engadget links to the details over here, and I won't bore you with them since I don't know what some of them do.
