Tonight I decided to check into Free Realms, and after doing the normal login via Firefox I waited for the game to load up. I closed up some old tabs to tidy up but when I heard no crunching of the hard drive I clicked back over to the site to see what was up. Up in the corner where it normally cheerfully told me what server I'd be playing on today it just had this plain message here, that no, I wasn't going to play right now. Uh, what?
My oldest daughter has a stuffed animal that comes with a website to do virtual activities on related to it. If you have kids you probably know what its name is. She goes to this site every so often and gets to spin a wheel for a free virtual prize once per day. Free Realms added this same once-a-day wheel mechanic and, well, when I remember to do it I will log in and spin it, even if almost every prize applies to things you have to have already bought with Station Cash. I have a bevy of pet-related items in my inventory, for instance, while the pet itself costs money. I guess it's working and bringing people in if the servers are full.
And before you make fun of me, admit it that you went into PlayStation Home to get your free PSP Go decorative item from the kiosk in the movie theater, right? Thought so.
