It's only a matter of time before Capcom produces a sequel to its hit, Viewtiful Joe. A paper in China actually claims details on it, while Capcom simply says they have not announced the title.

Import site Play Asia translated more information about the project from Game Watch's write-up. The article stated that though Joe will once again be the main character, players will also be able to combat enemies with his girlfriend Silvia. The female character can carry two cheerleader-like pom-poms. The duo may be able to fight together as a team. Meanwhile, the magazine reported that the title will sport a similar visual style to the original game.

The Play Asia article mentions that Viewtiful Joe 2, like Viewtiful Joe for PS2, has not even been announced yet. So we'll just have to wait and see if either comes to pass. Maybe they'll just choose to make the sequel for both, rather than spending the energy on porting an older game.
Last film.
I beat both of Dr. Cranken's forms after several tries and I thought that was it for the game, but there's another film to fight through. Turns out it's a row of really, really tough rooms with a really tough boss at the end. The rooms seem to be designed to make sure you really know how to use your VFX powers very well. We'll see how long this takes me.
GCN, PS2: Viewtiful Joe 2
Took perhaps a dozen attempts, but I'm past Frost Tiger II and up to the Dr. Wily inspired alien with the thick Austrian accent, who I think is the final boss. Not as hard as Frost Tiger, but when I finally took him down, he got back up in a second form.
This boss is interesting because many of his attacks are arguably derived from Mega Man games. He uses magnets, drills, and sawblades in his first form. I didn't live long enough into his second form to get a sense of what I'm facing there.
Frost Tiger again.
Finally bested the guy, then onto the rehash reel, where I have to fight harder versions of the four main bosses in the game up to this point. Unlike in VJ1 though, I can save between the battles. Which is great, because now I'm stuck on the Frost Tiger rehash. I practically passed out when the android went into Frost Tiger mode. I was all jump-and-punched out after two or three attempts and shut it off. I'll try again tomorrow.
VJ2 resumes.
Came back to VJ2 last night after hearing about the end of Clover made me remember I still had it on the shelf. I had listed the game on Half.com and nobody bought it, so I deleted the listing and started playing again. I knew exactly where I was stuck: the boss at the end of reel 5, Frost Tiger.
Frost Tiger's intro is nicely done. Big John, the Tyrannosaur drill sergeant boss who appears throughout the game trying a number of different ways to fight you, pops up and starts mocking you as always, only to be quickly slain by a very relaxed Frost Tiger. Frost then fires off a haiku, introduces himself, and explains that while he doesn't need the statue he has, and could just give it to you, instead he feels that anything worth having should be fought for. He tosses it over his shoulder and proceeds to beat me over and over again.
Fast forward to last night. Keeping in mind I'd never broken through Frost Tiger's defenses, I had nowhere to go but up. Keeping in mind that the whole foundation of combat in the VJ games is dodge the attacks until they're dizzy, then pound the snot out of 'em, I need to punch ice pillars in fast motion until I'm on fire, then smack him with a mid-air Red Hot Kick to drop his protective aura. He retreats, then approaches in a fighting stance, I have to perfectly dodge all six of his punches, then he gets dizzy. I beat the crap out of him as long as I can, he recovers and I have to do it again.
I've done this a few times, which gets his life down pretty far, but dodging six punches is really tough, and if even one connects, the attacks don't stop at six and you have to get the hell away before he lets loose a really punishing swipe that can't be dodged without slowing time.
I am, however, making progress. Two more reels after this one. In VJ1, this guy's brother Fire Leo was the toughest boss in the game, and after besting him, the rest of the game was a cinch.
Argh.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! Still can't beat Reel 5 Act 2, and the only walkthrough on Gamefaqs is completely worthless.
VJ2 10 bucks
VJ2 is available for 10 bucks at ebgames.com for the Playstation 2.
Getting there.
Been really buckling down into this game now that I've beaten BG&E. Blade Master Alastor, the Dante parody from VJ, makes a return. I thought I was getting very good at the game when it looked like he went down, but then the Black Film was loaded into the projector and a screaming Alastor becomes something much, much more challenging. Mildly frustratingly, every time I die, I need to best the easier Alastor first again. Of course, now I've done it so many times I tend to beat him unscathed.
It was pretty funny. They threw a boss at me at first who was a miniboss who I've faced a handful of times in the game, once again in a different costume. I was starting to feel cheated, then Alastor pops up, knocks him off the building, and gets fighting. Very nice.
19.99
Gamestop has VJ2 listed for $19.99 for both the Cube and PS2.

Reeling.
Smashing game. I'm really enjoying it, it's so much like the first one that it genuinely feels like the acts in this could have been interlaced with those in the first one, except of course for the setting. If the first game wasn't so great I might be upset that this is more of the same.
Confident on having reached Viewtiful Joe's "click-point", I decided to go straight for the ADULTS difficulty level. I beat VJ on KIDS after trying unsuccessfully to defeat the *first damn boss* on ADULTS mode. I was right, this is definitely the right difficulty level for me, really challenging but not so hard that I'm gaping at the set, like I was when I started VJ. They now let you save between sublevels, instead of at the end of them like in VJ. In this one the sublevels are acts, the levels are reels.
I'm unclear on the point of Sylvia being around at all, actually. I can understand wanting to play through as different people, but the tag-team thing is really kind of perplexing. They didn't have to do it this way, they could have given all the moves to both characters and let you choose, or a completely different set of moves so you can go through the levels how you like. But so far, she just seems like baggage.

There's a bunch of direct feed video for Joe 2 at GameInformer.

Or...
Or, like a dish detergent ad.
sound creepy
Sounds creepy, like a horror flick.
Subtitle.
Capcom has given the game a subtitle in Japan that translates to Mystery of the Black Film
Original.
Viewtiful Joe debuted on the Cube for $39.99 last year as well. I was wondering if they'd do that again.
Nov 23, $39.99
Both versions of VJ2 will debut on November 23rd at $39.99. The price is apparently notable for a first-run GameCube game.
