Just Cause 2 Soundtrack Released for Free

just_cause_2_ps3Just Cause 2 gave me dozens of hours of open world fun not too long ago, and the kind folks at Eidos have seen fit to hand us a little early holiday present. They've released a soundtrack for the game in ISO and MP3 free of charge for everyone to enjoy.

What Just Cause 2 Did (And Didn't Do) Right

just_cause_2_ps3My first playthrough of Just Cause 2 (PS3) ended at about 85 hours. I used this time to finish the main plot and then nab every trophy I could on the Normal difficulty level, including the 75% completion trophy -- that's right, there's still 25% of everything left to do after over 85 hours! The game's open world sandbox is truly massive and did an excellent job of holding my attention but it could have been better.

Just Cause 2 Patch Impressions

I was happy to see Just Cause 2 finally get a patch to 1.02 yesterday here in the US on the PS3 (the Xbox 360 and PC patches should already be out now) and had the chance to take it for a spin last night.

The official word is that the patch sets YouTube movies as "public" by default, fixes issues that would stop people and vehicles from spawning, changes enemy AI so they do not fire on the player while struggling with an enemy in a vehicle, increases the frequency of seeing the Vanderbildt Leisureliner vehicle, and "numerous stability improvements".

I've been playing this game for a very long time -- I'm over 79 hours into my first playthrough -- so I was able to notice a difference right away, almost all for the better.

Over Already: The Stunt Button Solution

just_cause_2_ps3Last night I parachuted back into Panau to cause some more mayhem. I'm over 18 hours into Just Cause 2, and it took me a while to fully understand how the developers solved a crucial problem with sandbox games with the stunt mode. Simply put, pushing circle by any vehicle puts Rico on top of it, but not driving (or flying) it.

Ones to Watch: PS3 and PSP for May 2010

The PS3 has a pair of exclusives that have been getting good buzz so far. 3D Dot Game Heroes brings extremely Zelda-like 8-bit action to the platform with a sense of humor and nostalgia on the 11th.
