Rockstar Breaks GTA4 Trophy Silence

gta4cityscapeJust over two months after Grand Theft Auto 4 showed up on April 29th Sony rolled out firmware 2.40 for the PS3. Once the firmware showed up the forums echoed with the statement that it sure would be nice if GTA4 got a Trophy patch, wouldn't it?

GTA IV 1.01 Early Results

20080507_gta4_perestroika_interior_358This dimly lit interior of the Perestroika club from Grand Theft Auto IV is shown with a tough-to-see profile of Niko at the far left with arms outstretched, aiming a weapon. Given that I didn't have anyone with me when I took this picture last night while playing the game on my PS3, you might wonder how I could be shooting and taking the picture at the same time.

The game had frozen during one of the missions, requiring a full reboot of the PS3. While the 1.01 patch might be helping, it hasn't fixed all of the problems with playing the single player game while connected to the PSN, and the real test won't occur until we hit peak gameplay times this weekend. Next patch, please.

Gaming News Roundup, 2008-03-30

gta4_window_logoGrand Theft Auto IV is looking mighty fine with two new services revealed last week ahead of its April 29th launch, but beware of preorders. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was supposed to be a shoo-in on the PS3 after its very strong predecessor but it has launched with online multiplayer problems, teaching early adopters a bit of a lesson in either crowd expectations or patience. Sony reveals that they've been toying with online services for about 11 years now, dating back to the PS1, and several high-profile games have been patched on the PS3 bringing them up to snuff.

In other news the PC is still going strong with Steam signing up Epic's slate of games and The Sims 3 announced for delivery next year. This and more in this week's Gaming News Roundup after the jump
